Blogging seems to be a "job" these days for most. You create content because
you've been told the more you post, the better it is. When in reality,
nothing can be more further from the truth.
This session covers the ideas that blogging with passion and emotion, not
frequency is what makes a blog great and the ability to take a stand on
topics is what separates you from the rest.

Content. It’s King, you know. Content creation, content sharing, content curation … these are the phrases of the hour. But what’s the difference? Where should you start? Brian Solis will get your blogging feet moving, and then some. With much too sharp a focus on SEO, Real Estate bloggers are getting mired down in technical details instead of finding their voices. The mission of REBlogWorld is to build better Real Estate bloggers, not better search engine optimizers. Brian will turn what you think you know about blogging on its ear. He’ll guide you toward creating content that accentuates your skills and strengths, and help take the necessary steps to build a successful presence online.
What’s hot? Blogging. That’s what’s hot. What’s hotter than that? Knowing what your customers want … and giving it to them (oh yeah, babe). Join Gahlord Dewald, arguably one of the savviest, mind-bogglingly brilliant über-geeks around as he delves deep into A/B Split Testing, and shows you how to employ super-high-tech, wickedly clever analytics to wring every delicious drop of information juice out of your blog … and how to use that information to give your customers exactly what they want. And that’s HOT.
Bringing together earned social media and paid media, when done correctly, can generate a perfect storm of credibility and reach - in many ways, the Holy Grail of the socialweb. Earned media is incredibly expensive to generate, and it's difficult to get it to a mass audience, regardless of how credible it is. Paid media reaches tons of eyeballs, but does it really win hearts and minds? SMG has worked with clients on a number of very successful programs to marry the two using social ad platforms like Twitter, Digg, Outbrain and others. Results include average click-through rates of over .8% and as high as 4.11% and re-ignition of conversations around important issues. While we can't completely open the kimono on this innovative new approach, I'll share high-level insights and intelligence about how some of the most socially innovative organizations in the world have cracked a new form of public dialogue - at scale.

Combining User Generated Content, Intentional Communities, and Lead Generation into a Business That Generates Profit
How do you stand out, work less, and get those vaunted social communities, and people, to actually create quality content that turns your idea into a business instead of a time-sucking hobby?
By turning your community - whether a social network or a simple blog with comments - into a business system that allows you to contact, influence, and gain the trust of your audience, so you can generate results.
In this presentation we'll share results, for the first time, from 3 case studies:
A. A B2B company that adapts the old fashioned, content subscription model to an open platform, generating over 20,000 listeners for a single training audio that monetizes through lead generation and sponsorships. The audience creates 80% of the quality content at little or no cost!
B. The training company who moves from email to a 2-step lead generation process, from free to paid membership, using tested, proven methods of engaging, gaining trust, and moving them to a paid level in 30 days...much of it automated because the people are doing the work, not just watching and listening!
C. A secret case study that will be shared only at Blogworld, combining 15 years of social network experience with a focus on performance marketing that generates results.
We've gotten 30-50% conversions to leads from social networks, and are moving them from public social networks to subscription based programs where they create the content as well. It's part of the New Media Game, and in this live interactive session, you will be able to play along, learn, and apply this to your business right after the session

Two years ago, a panel was convened with some pretty amazing people. Their views on social media for customer retention were groundbreaking and sparked many similar discussions thereafter. This was the early days for some of them, and many things have changed since then. This all-star panel has been tapped again to compare and contrast where customer loyalty and social media have been over the past two years, what is happening today, and where it is going. The original abstract still applies: One of the keys to customer loyalty is engagement. This session shares some of the best practices in combining social media with customer retention programs, an area (still) relatively unexplored by many companies and social media discussions. Social media provides the ideal channel from which to learn about and interact with customers, both commercial and consumer. It is also a great mechanism for deepening customer relationships and empowering customers to become a company's best advocates. These two areas are especially important to businesses that want to break-through the noise and grow in spite of difficult economic times. Through the use of blogs, video, social networks, and wikis, executing customer retention programs can be cool again!
A key reason businesses delay entering the world of blogging and new media is the fear of swimming in shark-infested waters. Even long-time bloggers may not be prepared to handle negative comments or a full-out assault by Internet trolls or brandjackers. Connie Reece and Jennifer Wojcik have "been there, done that" when it comes to interacting with a wide variety of people online. This fast-moving, fun presentation will include examples from personal experience, case studies, and ample time for Q&A.

Several demonstrations of previous WordPress vulnerabilities (in slide format) are given along with the core teams responses as the 7 year history of the hardening of the WordPress core is described. The history leads into a discussion of the current state of WordPress security and how adding code to your WordPress site can bypass all of the improvements made by WordPress over these years. A demonstration of how to review the safety of a plugin leads into a discussion of the best way to provide this information to a plugin developer. The topic of what to do if you find a hole in the WordPress core follows. The session concludes with a discussion of social hacking, the risks of unencrypted wifi and safe tips for blogging.
